Volunteers are the backbone of the Wichita Mountain Estates Volunteer Fire Department (WMEVFD). Our dedicated team of all-volunteer firefighters provides essential emergency services and fire protection to approximately 4,500 residents in Northwest Comanche County. Volunteering with WMEVFD offers the chance to make a significant impact in your community, ensuring the safety and well-being of your neighbors.
Volunteer firefighters play a critical role in protecting communities across the United States. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), nearly 70% of firefighters in the U.S. are volunteers. These individuals provide essential services, often responding to emergencies in their local areas with the same dedication and professionalism as their career counterparts. Without volunteer firefighters, many communities, especially rural and suburban areas, would struggle to maintain adequate emergency services.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Firefighting: Join our team of brave firefighters and help protect our community from fires and other emergencies. Training and gear are provided.
- Emergency Medical Response (EMR): If you have medical training or are willing to undergo training, you can assist in providing crucial medical aid during emergencies.
