Why We Need Your Support
The Wichita Mountain Estates Volunteer Fire Department (WMEVFD) is a vital part of our community, providing emergency services and fire protection to approximately 4,500 residents in Northwest Comanche County. As an all-volunteer Title-18 Fire Department and a 911 Emergency Response Agency, we rely heavily on the generosity and support of our community members to continue our operations and maintain our high standards of service.
The Importance of Donations
Your financial contributions are crucial for several reasons:
- Operational Costs: Keeping our fire station operational requires significant resources. Donations help cover the costs of utilities, maintenance, and essential administrative expenses.
- Equipment and Gear: To ensure the safety and effectiveness of our firefighters, we need to provide them with top-quality equipment and protective gear that meets NFPA standards. This includes everything from helmets and boots to hoses and breathing apparatus.
- Training: Continuous training is essential for our volunteers to stay prepared for any emergency. Donations allow us to fund regular training sessions, certifications, and drills that keep our team ready to respond efficiently.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Our fleet of emergency response vehicles is a lifeline for the community. Regular maintenance and occasional upgrades are necessary to keep these vehicles in top condition, ensuring they are ready to respond at a moment’s notice.
- Emergency Response: In 2021 alone, we responded to over 350 emergencies. Each response involves costs related to fuel, equipment wear and tear, and supplies. Donations help us manage these ongoing expenses.
